Next Meeting: Vo-Tech Auditorium, 7:30 PM 7 June 05

13 May, 05 by Kevin Johnson

The club has ordered the equipment for a phone line at the 146.91 repeater location. The equipment is shipping UPS ground and should be here in a few days. When it arrives, the technical committee will install it at the repeater site. The patch should be operational within the week. Since this is VOIP equipment, the 911 emergency operations will be a little different. We will go over these differences at the next club meeting.

5 May, 05 by Kevin Johnson

The radio club met. The election committee committed the following candidates to run for office. For president, Kevin Johnson (N5WTS) and Art Ferrington (W5GCM); for Vice-President, Paul Goulet (KC5CYY) and Joe King (KE5MK); for Secretary/Treasurer, Danita Haney (KC5YYU) is so far un-opposed. Nominations will be taken on the floor of the June Meeting for Secretary/Treasurer.

Paul Goulet (KC5CYY) showed the club how he is attempting to miniaturize an APRS system. He put a GPS, a TinyTrack, and a handi-talkie in a 6-pack cooler. He had to answer many questions the club had about it. Claude Matchette (KD5RQ) said that if he could get the price low enough, the club should buy some for use during emergency events.

The next meeting will be in the Auditorium at the Votech on June 7. The elections will be held at this meeting. Everyone who was a member by the May meeting will be eligible to vote. Everyone is welcome to come to the club meeting.
